The longest castle in the world welcomes us today to the marriage of Verena and Wolfgang. Burghausen Castle is perched on a narrow ridge between River Salzach and Lake Wöhr. With its defiant fortress walls, towers and battlements, the complex forms an impressive backdrop for today’s festival.
We literally feel transported back to the dark Middle Ages, as we are not allowed to light a fire in the castle for fire safety reasons. And so the newlyweds and their guests listen to our lecture on the pagan culture on a pitch-dark night. Verena and Wolfgang swear the knot for life. The goddess Woer, who hears all vows and oaths, has heard the common oath and henceforth watches over its observance. Loudly, all guests express their approval of this alliance.
Dear Verena and dear Wolfgang: All the best for your common life!
